I tend to avoid critiquing works that I am unfamiliar with, but Sullivan here just grabbed my attention. I took a look at some of your other Sullivan drawings just to get a better feel for the character and I like him a lot.

Even though there are no words other than the title at the bottom, looking at this picture intrigues me and starts questions forming. My first thought was "what a cute robot". Then I began to wonder what his motivation for cooking was. Does he eat organic compounds? Is he cooking for someone else? This doesn't seem to be his first day in a kitchen. The storage area behind him seems organized and stylistically arranged (heart shaped pot holder!). He seems happy here. There doesn't seem to be in a rush - just cooking for the love of it. The messes on the table seem right for the scenario. When a picture makes a story in the viewer's mind, you know you are doing something right.

The general style is a simple comic style which is cleanly done and nice to look at. The hash shadowing to create depth is a perfect match for the solid colors and heavy outline of the character. The "fine flour" mess on the table, rolling pin, and Sullivan's wrists doesn't match the simpler style of the rest of the picture, but it does not detract. Aside from that, the entire drawing looks like it was done with traditional media. It made me remember Tomie dePaola's work such as "Strega Nona".

Very nice.
